(1) JOIN GREENS AT THE SC PRIDE PARADE ON SEPTEMBER 22nd **********************************************************************
Greens will be participating in the SC Pride Parade on September 22nd. The parade will assemble at 11:00 at Finlay Park in Columbia. After the parade, stop by our table, which will be in Finlay Park from 12:00 to 6:00 (http://www.scpride.org/parade.htm).

(2) MINUTES FROM THE STATE CONVENTION **********************************************************************
The State Convention was held on August 25th at the Richland County Public Library in Columbia.
WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION
The Convention was called to order at 1:10 p.m.
REORGANIZING CONVENTION
Report from Steering Committee on 2006-2007. David Whiteman reported on the 2006 election campaigns and other recent activities. The Party has $260 in the bank.
Proposed Bylaw Amendment. Members considered a proposed bylaw amendment to increase the number of Steering Committee members from seven to nine. By consensus, the convention decided not to change the size of the Steering Committee.
Election of Steering Committee Members. Four members were nominated for the Steering Committee, and all were elected. Three were elected to a two-year term (2007-2009): Gregg Jocoy, Nammu Muhammad, and David Whiteman. One was elected to serve the final year of an open two-year term (2006-2008): Bryan Smith.
PLANNING CONVENTION
We discussed upcoming opportunities for outreach. The Progressive Black Caucus is planning an event soon. We decided to allocate $100 for participating in the SC Pride March. And we discussed plans to participate in the School of the Americas protest, November 16-18.
RECESS
The Convention went into recess at 3:30 p.m.

One major priority this year is to build strong local Green Party organizations in every area of the state. If you see a local party for your area in the list below, please contact the person listed. If you don’t see a local in your area, please volunteer to help organize a local group (especially if you're in Charleston)! (a) State. Opportunities exist for volunteers on all state committees, including communication, fundraising, website, elections, and outreach and membership. If you're interested, please reply to this email and let us know about your interests and skills.
(b) National. The SCGP is eligible to have representatives serve on most of the national USGP committees. For a list of committees, check out www.gpus.org/committees.html. If you’re interested in becoming a member, please reply to this email.
